\"\"<\/a>Luisa Spagnoli is for sure a well- known name to the female audience. Its shop windows dominate the boulevards of half of Italy, as a reminder that there is someone, every now and then, who manages to resist time and history.<\/p>\n

But did you know that this woman, considered the first great Italian entrepreneur, is also known for having founded the famous Perugina confectionery industry, an Italian pride sold – alas – to the giant Nestl\u00e8? It was 1907 and women were not voting. There was a shotgun marriage and they were, in fact, “property” of their husband. However, slowly, with constancy and intelligence, some of them were changing the history and way of considering entrepreneurship in the \u201cBel Paese\u201d.<\/p>\n

Spagnoli, using processing scraps for confectionery products, invented, by chance or by genius, what has become the most famous chocolate in the world: Bacio (kiss in Italian), the symbol of lovers (and gluttons) who swear eternal love, discarding that starry foil with an unmistakable noise and a unique scent. Funny but true, the first name of that very innovative product was the less romantic “punch”, changed to “kiss” by Giovanni Buitoni, her business partner.<\/p>\n

However, it was only after having made the gourmands from all over the world happy, that Luisa Spagnoli decided to launch herself in the new business as textile entrepreneur, investing in the breeding of Angora rabbits for the production of fine yarns, linking her name to one of the most famous made in Italy clothing brands: Luisa Spagnoli. And here, this marvelous woman, stood out for one aspect, not negligible to the other eyes of the most attentive people: the animals were neither shorn nor killed, but combed, thus making it possible to produce not only beautiful clothes, but also good ones, through the invention of a new brilliant spinning system.<\/p>\n

And her amazing story doesn’t end there, because Luisa Spagnoli is also remembered for the incredible attention to the working conditions of her employees. During the First World War, when all the men had left for the front, Luisa found herself looking after the house and the company alone, just like many other women who had started working to make up for the lack of the head of the family. Therefore, she decided to increase the social structures that could improve the lives of her workers and founded a nursery in one of her factories. She continued that project even after the war, with the Angora Luisa Spagnoli company, whose plant in Santa Lucia was equipped with terraced houses and even a swimming pool for the employees. Here too there was a kindergarten for the workers’ children, with parties, sports competitions and football matches organized for everyone, combining social commitment with attention to the environmental impact of production.<\/p>\n

Her figure is unforgettable and was also celebrated by a recent TV series, which made her known to a wider international public, as a woman, beyond her name.<\/p>\n

In addition to having given birth to two successful companies that still today tell us about a life made of passion, sacrifice and important changes, we also want to remember her as an example of extraordinary strength, intelligence and ability. Because if it is true that everyone can try to change things, it is equally true that few human beings, and even fewer women, were able to make dreams come true in our history.<\/p>\n
